Pacesetter F1 - Theme sketch 1998.12

The incredibly realistic 3 screen PC-based race track simulator had been created and first shown at IAAPA in 1997.

However the unit was very basic, with only a simple plastic seat and a couple of go-kart tyres behind that, to attract the user.

To further enhance the product's appeal, Camber Entertainment approached SHADO to create a 'formula one' style bodywork to ‘sell’ the product.

The theme sketch and technical drawings were transformed into a realistic foam model over the Christmas holiday by John Grimshaw, in his garage workshop.

This model was detailed and tooled, ready for launch at the Olympia Fair in London at the beginning of February 1995.

Since then, over 30 units have been sold throughout the world, with the ability to create championship events, using an internet linkage.
