MARS 2112 Full Interior layout 1998.03

Since its opening in October 1998, the MARS 2112 Restaurant was from a concept theme developed by SHADO and Irish Entrepreneur Paschal Phelan.

Being based around the idea of being able to travel to and experience life on the planet of Mars in the future, the diners can ‘travel to Mars’ in one of the two 24 seat flight simulator installed in the lobby behind 'airlock' doors.

From the first sketches from October 1997, the simulator interior was designed, then modelled during March of 1998 by Tony Tovey and Alison Harper.

The design models were then further developed as tooling models at RDL in Cradley Heath, UK, from the sketches and an early CAD profile models.

The pair of ride simulators were built during May of 1998, being fully detailed with ‘clam shell’ doors, interior ‘technical panel’ designs, inauguration plaques, mood lighting and unique seats.

They were then shipped to New York and installed in conjunction with Mars2112 Corporation and Camber Entertainment.
